What we're looking for...

The Personal Introduction Competition is a required component of the National American Miss program and focuses on public speaking, self-expression, and confidence. Each contestant is individually introduced on stage and delivers a brief, memorized introduction using a microphone, sharing her name, hometown, and a personal detail or future goal.

For Junior Divisions (Ages 4-12)

For younger contestants, the Personal Introduction Competition is an excellent way to build early communication skills in a fun and encouraging setting. Children learn how to speak clearly, project their voice, and stand confidently in front of an audience, often for the first time.

Parents frequently see increased self-confidence, comfort speaking to others, and pride in self-expression. This experience helps young contestants develop skills that support success in school presentations, classroom participation, and everyday conversations.

For Senior Divisions (Ages 13-39)

For older contestants, including the Elite division (ages 25–39), the Personal Introduction Competition provides meaningful real-world value. Participants practice concise, confident communication, learning how to introduce themselves professionally and make a strong first impression.

This skill translates directly to interviews, networking, leadership roles, and public speaking opportunities. Contestants are encouraged to present themselves authentically, using their voice, presence, and personality to connect with both the audience and selection committee.

Judging & Focus

Judging is based on confidence, clarity, personality, and stage presence, not memorization alone or prior experience. Introductions are limited in length to encourage focus and effective communication.

The Personal Introduction Competition is designed to be empowering and educational at every age, helping contestants build confidence and communication skills they will use for a lifetime.
