Appointed Representative Program
No State Pageant? No problem! Learn how to represent your home state at NAM Nationals.
Not every state currently offers an in-person NAM state pageant, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still be part of the NAMily and compete at nationals! The Appointed Representative Program gives girls and young women ages 4-39 the opportunity to represent their state or city and compete at the National American Miss National Pageant in Orlando, Florida... even if a state event isn’t held.

What Is the Appointed Representative Program?
If your state doesn’t currently host a pageant for your age group, you can apply to be appointed as your state’s representative. Appointed representatives are selected through a holistic application process that showcases your personality, achievements, goals, and commitment to service.

Once chosen, you will:
-
Be named State Queen for your age division
-
Compete at the National Pageant for the title of National American Miss
-
Have the chance to win national awards and special honors
-
Build confidence, leadership skills, and unforgettable memories

This is your chance to shine on a national stage... no matter where you live!

Who Is Eligible?
The Appointed Representative Program is available to girls and women living in states that currently do not offer a local NAM pageant for their age division. A list of eligible states and divisions is updated regularly and available on this page.

How the Program Works
Your application includes five key components:

Community Service (10%)
Show your dedication to others by documenting at least 2 hours of meaningful service.
Resume (15%)
Tell your story! Include leadership, interests, awards, school activities, and what makes you uniquely YOU.
Photograph (20%)
Submit a bright, professional photo that reflects your confidence and personality.
Personal Introduction Video (25%)
Record a brief video introducing yourself with your name, hometown, goals, and something interesting about you.
Virtual Interview (30%)
Connect with a judge in a live virtual interview where you’ll share more about who you are.

Your combined score determines your placement:
-
90–100: Eligible for a State Queen title
-
75–89: Eligible for a City Queen title
-
Below 75: Encouraged to apply again next year

What Happens Next?
Once selected, State Queens will compete at the National Pageant for the National American Miss crown. City Queens will compete for the National All-American Miss title during the same event. Visit our page here to learn more about the difference between these two titles. Additionally, you will also receive guidance from the NAM National Office and can participate in state pageants as visiting royalty to help prepare you for the national experience.
